“If you are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all.” – Isaiah 7:9
Isaiah is commanded by God to give a message to King Ahaz. Ahaz is anxious over the impending attack of both Assyria and Ephraim. God promises that Ephraim will not even be a nation in 65 more years. Ahaz must rely on this promise from God. In God, is his only hope. If he does not stand on the promises of God, he will surely fall.
The same goes for us. We have no strength to stand on our own. We Christians must depend on God and His promises. If we want to stand firm for Christ, we must stand firm in the faith. This is an admonition which Paul repeats throughout his letters. “Stand firm in the faith.” This was true in the Old Testament and it is still true for us today.
